Only a few weeks left until the 2010 FAHPERDS convention in Orlando.
This year I will presenting "Keep 'em Moving and Learning", a compilation of ideas that work for me in PE class, a twist here and there for old activities, and Pre-Packaged Warm-ups. You can see the handout in my Games, Activities & More tab.
I have invited Meagan Smith to work with me in the presentation. She worked at Garden Grove for a couple of months before the school district decided we didn't need that many teachers and she went on to work at Chain of Lakes Elementary. At the present, she's teaching in Frostproof High School.
We will be bringing lots of equipment to make the presentation a hands on one. I'm sure it will be a success despite the fact that we were scheduled on the early bird schedule, right before the General Session.
Otherwise, classes have been going great, in particular with the help of my new Para, Mariann Phelps.
Something new I've been using this year is the recorded CD's. I found free software online that allows me to cut songs to whatever length I need. I have also used my MP3 player to record voice messages and whistle blowing to be included in between songs. It allows me to be away from the boombox and walking among the students giving feedback and preventing discipline issues. I love it and the children get a kick of listening to my voice coming from the boombox instead of from me. It is also helping me since I've been having difficulties with my voice lately.
Today I'll take part in Education Nation, an online forum open to teachers all accross the nation. We'll see how it goes, but it promises to be interesting!
Til the next posting!
