I love the curiosity of my students when they come to class and see new equipment! Their questions: "What are we doing today?" "What is THAT?"... And at the end... "I loved that! When will we do it again?"
This week I introduced the "Skip Its". It is basically a long baton with a jumping rope attached, which ends in a whiffle ball. The child makes it turn horizontally and jumps. It's like jumping rope sideways instead of up and down. Of course, one of the challenges is keeping them from turning it like a cowboy lasso!
Soccer is our new unit, and children are learning dribbling, passing, and juggling. This coming week, with only very few fitness tests left, we will be more in the field, taking advantage of the space we are fortunate to have.
I'm planning to include some activities I learned at the FAHPERDS conference, and others I have learned from the SPARK Family website. I can't wait to see my student's reactions!
Two more weeks till the end of the grading period, and the district has changed again, at this time the way we are to grade the students...... Makes you wonder...
Til the next one!
